Velma (Hudnall) PeaySeptember 10, 1930 ~ March 12, 2017 (age 86)
Velma Oral Peay, 86, of Rochester, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2017, at Morgantown Care & Rehab after a brief struggle with cancer.
Velma was born on September 10, 1930, the daughter of Willie Hudnall and Lestie Stearsman Hudnall. She married Paul Peay on October 14, 1946. He preceded her in death in 2001 after 55 years of marriage.
Velma was a member of Rochester Baptist Church, and had an unwavering faith in God. She met all friends and strangers with a smile, and loved nothing more than gathering her family around her kitchen table.
She is survived by her children, Rita Barks and husband Roy of Advance, North Carolina; Paulette Stubblefield of Morgantown, Kentucky; Wanda Embry of Morgantown, Kentucky; Beverly Boykin and husband Randy of Rochester, Kentucky; Shelia Coleman and husband Tim of Morgantown, Kentucky; Kimberly Oliver and husband Mark of Bowling Green, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and siblings Rollie Hudnall and wife Arlene of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Carol Kayse of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at the Rochester Missionary Baptist Church Wednesday March 15, 2017 at 1:00pm with Bro. Roger Heltsley and Bro. Todd Phelps officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 14, 2017 from 4:00 pm – 8:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Wednesday 11:00am until funeral time at 1:00 pm at Rochester Missionary Baptist Church.
