Jan Jones

In the Fall of 1967 Gerald Martin Jones decided upon a career in the Funeral Business. . So Gerald decided to go to W.G. Hardy Funeral Home on Dixie Highway in Louisville, KY. Gerald enrolled and graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science after he graduated from high school. In 1971 Gerald took a job with Sid Rogers, owner of Rogers’ Funeral Home, to manage Mr. Rogers’ funeral home in Clarkson, Kentucky. The Jones’ spent 8 ½ years in Clarkson In the summer of 1979 they discovered that a funeral home was for sale in Morgantown, Kentucky. Gerald and Jan started to put their heads together to figure out how they could afford to buy a funeral home located in Gerald’s hometown. Gerald and Jan had achieved a life long dream of owning their own funeral home with the added bonus of it being able to raise their family in Gerald’s hometown. The first order of business was changing the name of the funeral home to Jones Funeral Chapel. Jan received her funeral directors license in 1987 and started working at the funeral home full time in 1990. Over the past 23 years Jones Funeral Chapel has changed in several different ways including the outside appearance of our building, the remodeling of our sanctuary, and the addition to the original building The Jones Funeral Chapel is the only Family owned and operated funeral home in Morgantown. The Jones family and staff are always looking for ways to better serve you.

Missy Jones-Gary Co-Owner, Funeral Director

In 1993 Missy joined her parents at the funeral home as a secretary and Pre-Arrangement Counselor once receiving her insurance license in 1996. In 1999 she started serving her apprenticeship to be able to receive her Funeral Director’s license in which she did in 2001. Missy graduated from Butler County High School in 1990 and then attended Campbellsville Community College. She married Mark S. Gary of Morgantown and they have two sons, Hunter Stephen and Talon Chase Gary.

Marty joined the Jones Funeral Chapel in May of 1994 after graduating from Butler County High School and started serving his apprenticeship in June of 1994 to become a second generation funeral director and embalmer. After serving his 2 years of apprenticeship he enrolled in the John A. Gupton Mortuary College in Nashville TN. and received a Associate degree in mortuary science. Marty became a second generation licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1998.

Marty the son of Gerald and Jan Jones is married to Haley Nicole Lee Jones the daughter of Gary and Angie Hartis Lee and they have one daughter Olivia Grace Jones. Marty and Haley reside in the Eden community on the family farm. Marty, Haley, and Olivia Grace are members of Crossland Community Church and owners of Jones Monument Company Inc. and enjoy volunteering there time and being involved in our community.

Marty is also the Butler County Coroner, serves on the board of the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association and is a member of Cassia Masonic lodge #272 F&AM, Butler /Edmonson Counties Gideon camp through The Gideons International, a active member of and attends many other civic and non-profit organizations. Marty enjoys spending time with his wife Haley daughter Olivia Grace and his family. he also enjoys hunting and the outdoors.

Michael B. Gary Jr. Funeral Director/Embalmer

Michael joined the Jones Funeral Chapel in May of 2006 after graduating from Butler County High School. He graduated from Jefferson State Community College in 2015 with an associates degree in mortuary science. Michael and his wife, Katie Kirby Gary have one son, Henry Bernard Gary and reside in Morgantown. Michael is also a Butler Co. Deputy Coroner, member of Cassia Masonic Lodge #272 F&AM and salesman and installer for Jones Monument Co Inc. He enjoys hunting, fishing and travelling with his family in his spare time.
